Share location and record routes

Above the ground map there are three buttons for use in the field:

#Share location

Share location regularly sends your position to the other members of the ground. The button then changes to Stop sharing.

• The others see you as a coloured circle with your initials on the map and in the list below – with the age of the position, its source (browser or app) and, if known, the battery level.
• The last position remains visible even when it gets old – useful in an emergency.
• In the list of hunters, Show on map shows the person and History (24 h) shows their route of the last 24 hours.
• Possible status messages: waiting for GPS …, GPS too inaccurate or – if sharing is limited to the ground – outside the ground – paused.

#Record route

Record route records your route, e.g. a stalk, a tracking search or the way to your stand. Stop recording saves it. The screen stays on while recording. Without a signal the route is sent later.

#My routes

My routes lists your saved routes with length and duration. You can show each route on the map, Download as GPX or delete it. Only you can see your routes.

#Background location with OwnTracks

To send your location even when the phone is locked, connect the free app OwnTracks (iPhone and Android) to Waidblick. Tap Set up OwnTracks and follow the steps:

1. Install OwnTracks from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Allow external configuration in OwnTracks.
3. Import into OwnTracks – opens OwnTracks with your credentials (open this page on your phone for that).
4. In the phone's settings, set location access for OwnTracks to Always.

Set up by hand lists URL, user, password and device ID in case the automatic import does not work. My configuration shows the settings as a file to copy or save. Disconnect invalidates the credentials.
